Update from Coco's family:
Hey Everybody! Ms. CoCo has been with us for 6 months now and things are going great. When she first came to us the vet said she needed 7 teeth pulled out and her ears were almost completely blocked. All that has been fixed and she has been doing great. She has decided that she will be a daddy's girl much to his delight! Thank you so much for rescuing her from the Reno Pound. She has found a forever home for sure!

Update on Roxy and Sergeant:
I am having the time of my life with our new Love Pugs! I have had them now for 48 hours and things could not be going more perfectly. Roxy & Sergeant are everything I hoped for! Roxy loves to follow me around, wants to snuggle and be lazy, and is just the sweetest pug ever. Sergeant loves to pal around with Keith, play fetch with Hayden, and continue to crack us up! Not too mention they are very well behaved. Adopting two rescue pugs has been very rewarding, not only did we help out two pugs in need, but they have completed our family too. We took them to Larsen's picnic area yesterday and it was so fun watching them run and play. They make us laugh all day! I highly recommend Pugs!

From Max and Wilbur's family:
Just an update on Max (adopted 3.5 years ago) and Wilbur (adopted 1.5 years ago) from PugSavers.
Both boys are doing well and still spoiled! Here is a cute picture from our patio, as the boys get some sun in the afternoon!

From Porkchop's family:
Hi Pugsavers!
It's hard to believe that it has been one year since we have adopted the pug once known as Benny. To celebrate the sunshine he has brought us we decided to give our Porkchop a birthday party. I wanted to thank you for the joy that our baby has brought into our lives and to share pictures from his birthday party.
We baked him a doggie birthday cake with carob and took him to different dog stores in Sonoma to celebrate -- where his dad bought him a new car seat since he loves going for car rides. As you can see in the pictures enclosed he is ready for his next road trip!! Once again, thank you for all the wonderful work you do in caring for pugs like our Porkchop/Benny and bringing joy into the lives of many families.

From Korby's family:
Korby has brought so much joy to our lives. She is one of the most precious gifts we have ever received. She has made our family a perfect family. Otis and Korby are very close. They share the same bed every night and in the early mornings decide to sleep with us on our bed. Otis and Korby even clean each others' faces. She was the perfect match for him. We couldn't be happier.
She is the perfect pet to curl up and snuggle with in the evenings. I must say she is a Momma's girl more than a Daddy's girl. She loves to follom Mom around the house and is always ready to jump on my lap when I finally take a seat in our Lazy Boy recliner. Korby and Otis visit Grandma and Grandpa's house at least one day a week while I am at work. At Grandma's house the snuggle up next to the fireplace and are spoiled all day. When it is time to go home, they are exhausted with too much love and attention from Grandma.

An update from Porkchop's new mommy:
I just wanted to send you some pics of Porkchop (the pug formerly known as Benny). He is doing well and is hamming up all the attention he can get. I've enclosed a picture of Porkchop's first Christmas/Hanukkah. Believe it or not all those presents were actually for him and his brother and they even opened through them all before the holidays!

An update from Penny's new home:
I really do not know how I can thank you enough for letting Penny come into my life, so here's her update:
There are not enough words to thank you for letting Penny Lane come into my life. Her third time through PugSavers (and neither of the first two failed because of her) was the charm for her, and for me. I would have not been surprised to find that she had trust issues, but that was not the case, and we are devoted to each other -- she is my Velcro pug! Although she is blind in her right eye from PK, its progression in her left eye has been stopped thanks to her eye drops. Her PK has not slowed her down a bit! She and Sam the Cat are now best friends, and take long naps together. Penny was a little fluffy when she first came to me, but has dropped a few pounds due to the three to four walks a day that we take. As a side benefit, I have dropped a few pounds, too. I am completely smitten with this little black bundle of love. I cannot remember what life was like without her. She has brought so much joy, love, and laughter into my life. All of the male dogs in the neighborhood are in love with her, and she charms everyone she meets. Penny has completely pugged me, and I love her!
Thank you again,
nancy

A note from Porkchop's new family:
We just wanted to let you know how Benny (now called Porkchop) was doing. We have to say that he is the greatest pug in the world! He is an absolute angel who loves playing with his hamburger toy and going for car rides. Every night he sleeps in between his mom and dad and always with his teddy bear. We are very grateful for his presence in our lives, and thank you for introducing us to Pugs and the joys of getting a rescue. We have enclosed pictures of our little sunshine and hope to send more.

A note from Phoebe's new mom:
We adopted Phoebe (formerly known as Dee Dee) from PugSavers almost a year ago and she has really been a wonderful addition to the family. She had some pretty bad separation anxiety at first, but she now trusts us and enjoys the fact that someone is always home with her. She is a pistol!
I have attached a current pic of Phoebe visiting Big Trees national forest, she loves to go on trips!

An update from Suzie's new family:
We wanted to drop you a line and let you know that Suzie is doing just fine. We just love her!! It seems like she's been a part of our little family forever. I'm sending a few pictures I thought you might like to see.
Thanks for our little girl.

A note from Jerry's new dad:
Jerry is doing great. He is the life that my partner and I needed in our lives.
Every time we come home we are greeted with energetic bark and non-stop
tail wagging. At night he loves to sleep at the head of the bed between us
and sometimes will even go under the covers and sleep on his back or curl up
under my arm. He is definitely all that I had hoped for and MORE! Thanks PUGSAVERS!

|
Penny went through PugSavers not once, but twice. As an "alpha" female she needed to
go to a home as an "only pug." When her adopters got divorced, the wife, who got Penny
in the divorce, had to travel for business a lot and did not want to make Penny go to
a boarding facility all of the time, so she turned her back in to PugSavers. Penny is
now the queen of her domain at her new home and is doing great. Another wonderful
success story!

A note from Dusty's new dad:
Dusty is doing great. She is very strong and hasn't been limping
at all. She is also sleeping a little later, thank God. Also, Dusty
and Mercury are very happy together. I have other photos of them cuddling.
It is very cute. I think Pugs really need another pug to be with, even though
Dusty is totally in love with me.
With all the paper work that you sent I didn't see anything for donating to
your cause of saving these "puglets." We donate every year to the local
MSPCA. Bob and I would like to donate to PugSavers too.

A note from Vito's family:
Hello all at Pugsavers!
We wanted to write and give a 2+ year update on Mr. Vito (a.k.a. "Vito Bandito,"
"Vito Bear" or "The World's Biggest Pug"). We knew we were
blessed with our first Pug, Maggie, but Vito has truly exceeded any
expectations we had - he is a real, live teddy bear. He cuddles like
mad and thoroughly enjoys being a city Pug (fire hydrants are
conveniently placed on every corner). This past Halloween, Vito decided
to incorporate his infamous underbite into his costume and entered our
local doggie store contest. Lo and behold, Vito the Vampire won! We
couldn't help sending you a picture of the winner! On a side note, Vito
has also starred in Evening Magazine's doggie fashion show. While he is
happy to strut the catwalk in a sweater or faux Burberry hat, Flossies
and "bedtime" put him in a euphoric state.
Hope this finds everyone well. Take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Regards,
Anne & Ryan Daugherty (and Maggie & Vito too!)

A note from Abby (now "Lickey Split":
This is a note for the wonderful people who saved my life nearly a year ago...
Almost a year has passed since you were so kind as to save me, even though I am not a Pug
at all. I have a great life with the Cohens. I live in a house with lots of big windows
where huge birds fly by every morning. I love watching and following them through the
house.
I try to be a "perfect dog" these days, although it took much patience and training
with treats from the Cohens. I know what to do and how to behave and I always try
to be a good dog.
I do love the affection and treats I get. They really love me in this house so very much.
You should know that I live up to my name...Lickety...by giving them so many licks.
Thanks so much for saving me and for taking good care of me until you found this wonderful family and home for me.
Love and Licks....
Lickety Split aka Abby

A note from Kitty's (now "Dusty") new dad:
I just wanted to write a letter of thanks for taking care and saving Kitty's
life. She is an absolute joy to have. Mercury is so happy too, and wakes up
with the sun like Dusty. Dusty is like clockwork; right at 7:00 am she wakes
and stares a me so happy to be awake and alive. Every day it seems is her
first and she can hardly contain herself. I have had a few dogs in my life
and I have never seen a dog so happy to get up in the morning. Mercury looks
at her like she is crazy. Dusty has gained some weight and strength, she no
longer limps like she was doing off and on. She loves running up the stairs
in my house, and going to for walks at night. She still is not that crazy
about sitting in the park for too long. I can't blame her, she would much
rather walk around the neighborhood. I also wanted to thank the doctors and
Karen and the assistants at Abel clinic.
Here is a photo of Dusty and me. Thanks again! Greg

A note from Bogey's new mom:
Bogey is doing great! It feels like he's always been a member of the family.
We all enjoy him so much, and he's seems to have settled in without a hitch!
He and Lucy (our terrier mix) our fast friends. We actually wanted Bogey for a
companion for Lucy, but we never expected things to go this well! They are constant
companions. Bogey looks to Lucy for cues for everything. He goes outside with her,
lays down with her, plays with her and eats with her. If it's time for a treat or
a walk, Bogey looks to Lucy to see what to do. From Bogey's first day here, they
have eaten out of the same bowl, with no food issues! There has never been a bark,
skirmish, growl, nothing. It's as if they have been eating from the same bowl their
whole lives. When they have a treat, Lucy always finishes first, then will finish
whatever Bogey has left over, and he lets her! He doesn't even react, it's just like
that's the way it's supposed to be.
Bogey still wears his "Bogey Band" (a belly band to help with urinary accidents)
when we are at work, and he still needs it. But after work, we all go to my husband's
auto body shop, go for a big walk in the desert, or just drive around helping to do
errands. Lucy and Bogey LOVE the shop! There is so much to sniff, and Lucy has
showed Bogey wear to poop by my husband's toolbox, which he does consistently every
visit. Bogey also loves his walk, and he needs a long nap after. My husband is
teaching Bogey Spanish (he thinks all the dogs speak Spanish). Bogey is very kind,
and pretends he is interested. Bogey still loves to play with tennis balls, which
he shares with Lucy. Their relationship is really amazing. I've never seen anything
like it, especially for two older dogs set in their ways.
I cannot imagine that someone did not snatch up this wonderful dog sooner! Sure, he
has his quirks, like needing the belly band to keep from "anxiety peeing," but the
house is clean and it probably takes 60 seconds to put it on. He has so many wonderful
qualities and so much love to get. How can people think that only puppies are worth
time and effort? If you met Bogey, you would kick yourself for not meeting him before
we did. We know he won't be with us as long a puppy, but he deserves a good home with
lots of love and a little bit of patience. He had a rough start - he was abused,
neglected, and did not have any of the normal things that a dog should have: food,
toys, petting, trips to the vet. He deserves all that and more.
Also, Bogey is a pug mix. I understand the attraction to pugs, that's why we looked
on this site. But it's the DOG, not the breed, who needs you, and who will love you,
and, by the way, who YOU WILL LOVE! Open your possibilities to these wonderful mixes,
you will not make a mistake!

A note and some pics from Boris' new family:
I'd like to report a PugSavers success story!
My husband, James Addicott, and I adopted Boris from you back in Nov. 2003. Our lives
have been one pug-loving moment to another since then!
First of all, it has made us second guess having children as we love Boris so much,
how could we love anything else more?
Second, Boris has earned the reputation of world's most spoiled dog. He eats good food,
gets walked everyday, sleeps in bed with us, has special "beauty" routines, etc.
Lastly, he's thriving. He has lost one pound and is now a trim and muscular 19 lbs.
He walks almost an hour everyday with joy and spirit. The vet thinks he's the best
looking 8 year he's ever seen.
Anyway, I wanted to share with you how happy and content we are with Boris. He's the best!
Tonight we're preparing for a trip to LA. We found a dog friendly hotel in Morro Bay to
stay the night. Have pug, will travel!
Thanks for finding us Boris!
--Ana
P.S. Here are some photos of us at a pumpkin patch shortly after we got Boris.

A note and some pics from Cosmo's new person:
Hi PugSavers,
I just wanted to send you an update on the pug formerly known as Woody -- he is now Cosmo!
Cosmo rules our home and is spoiled rotten (derservingly so) by his mommy, daddy and even
when he visits his grandparents!
He is now fully potty trained and can sits on command. He is so smart! He has retained
his playful side and we lovingly refer to him as the "Tasmanian Devil" when he takes off
running through the back yard or down our long hallway in a frenzy. We took him to Tahoe
during Christmas and much to our surprise, he loved the snow and ran like a bunny through
it -- we think he believed he was surrounded by ice cream he was so happy!
I have attached a couple of pictures so you can see Cosmo in his new home!

A note and some photos from Larry's adoptive family:
Hope you enjoy the pictures! As you can see, Larry is fat and sassy and does
everything with his best friend, Leah. And they both love the snow!

We received a lovely Christmas card from Sonja and
Dante Tosetti containing a great picture of their Pug/Peke mix, Max, adopted
from PugSavers.
Hard to believe it's been nearly a year since Max became part of our family. Max
enjoys daily walks, the dog park, and especially a visit from Santa. Max's former
foster mom has become friends with his adoptive family and gets to see Max almost
weekly. As you can see from his photo, Max looks happy as can be, which makes all
of us ecstatic!

A note from Jackson's adoptive family:
A Happy New Year to everyone at Pugsavers!
I just wanted to update you on Jackson. He is doing very well and he
is finally putting on a little weight! His energy level hasn't subsided
since he arrived, and it is always a joy to come home to his happy
snorting face!
I'd like to thank you once again for helping him come to
our home!

in San Francisco with her new Pug brother, Henri.

| I'm Herbie the Love Pug, and thanks to PugSavers, I'm currently in training to be a Hearing Dog at the San Francisco SPCA Hearing Dog Program. When I'm finished with my training, I'll be an assistance dog for a Deaf or hard-of-hearing person. I'm a busy-busy-busy little pug, so having a job to do suits me just fine! We'll keep everyone posted on the progress of my training and let you know when I graduate.
UPDATE! Herbie graduated as an official Hearing Dog on October 25, 2003. He is now partnered with Tristan, who reports that Herbie (now nicknamed "Butterball") is a first-rate Hearing Dog and Tristan's new best buddy. Here's a great pic of Herbie and Tristan on graduation day, and one of Herbie in the snow on a visit to Tahoe!

I'm Woody, the 10-month-old cutiepie with luxating patella. I've been adopted by a fabulous family in the Sacramento area, and they're committed to seeing me through this knee business, whatever my future might hold. Thanks, PugSavers!
|

|
PugSavers had named me Mikey but now my name is Biggie. It's the perfect name for me too, cause as you can see, I am kind of an xxl pug. I'm loving my new life as you can see from these pictures. When I came here I had a bit of an attitude problem about food, but my mom got me a "personal trainer" and I'm dealing with my issues. Can't you just see how much I'm loved by my new mom, Danielle! She could have given up on me but she believed in me and is doing all she can to help me out! We even have a pillow that looks like me, but I think I'm even cuter. I really am one lucky pug!

| I just wanted to send you a photo of my little boy Pugsley. He is such a love bug. He has put on some weight and grown hair back. He and his little sister Gracie have a blast playing together. So, he has adjusted to his forever home very well. He is very happy, sleeps with his mother in bed at night as close as he can get to her side. And he is there full of kisses in the morning to help wake her up. He sends his love to his foster home. Thank you for letting me adopt this little guy. We love him forever.
|

| Vito was placed with PugSavers by the Sacramento SPCA. He is one happy
Pug now. He enjoys sleeping in the bed with us and playing with his little sister Maggie the Pug. Many thanks!

| Mylee went to her "forever" family, who
are Karen Clayman, Marvin Weinstein and daughters Olivia and Bella
in San Francisco.
Apparently Mylee just ran right to them when they
came in the door of her foster home but she had been a bit shy and
reserved with the other 2 families who had looked at her. Looks like
Mylee chose her own home!

| Magnolia and
Verbena with their new forever family, Kim, Don and Mickey
(non-pug)
I
think it was destiny that PugSavers and I found each other.
PugSavers needed a new Mom for a 4 year old Pug Mom, Magnolia and
her 1 1/2 year old daughter, Verbena. I needed to heal an
empty spot in my heart when my pug crossed over the bridge due to
old age. PugSavers brought us together and it was love at
first sight. The girls have a loving home for the rest of
their lives and I now have 2 delightful pugs to love and soothe my
heart. Thank you, Kim Grace and Don

| Natalie, my daughter, adopted this one
and a half year old little guy. After having him in our home as a
foster, she found a real connection with him. He adores her, and
they are inseparable. Her Rosie seems to appreciate the sharing of
adoration duties, and also shares her side of Natalie's bed with
him, willingly.
Thank you PugSavers for our new family
member! Linda H. |

| Pugsavers,
My husband and I are so happy to have
found Max. We really think it was meant to be- I never realized how
rewarding this process would be especially watching Max settling
into "his house". I encourage others to look into rescue, these
little cuties really do appreciate everything you do.
Much thanks to the people at Pugsavers,
especially his foster Mommy who was so good to him.
Sonja & Dante Tosetti
Max's parents
also reported to us the following: The other night Max proved to us
that he is really a first class dog - turned his nose up at his
kibble and ate pate' instead! Can we say spoiled?! We love this
dog! |

| Hi Pugsavers!
I've been meaning to send a photo of Baron for ages now.........He's is doing awesome! We just love him so much and as do our friends & family.
He's even lost weight, down to 22 lb.. His favorite treat is carrots (who knew?) The Doc has him on a diet and exercise program for a touch of arthritis in his hip. But he's still getting around really well, maybe too well.........he's still fearless when it comes to launching himself off the bed in the morning!
Many thinks and keep up the great work!

| Hi,
Just a quick note to let you know that Sugar is doing great! She has lost weight, hears much more than we thought and loves to play with her pug sister, Lucy. We just love her! She jumps on the sofa, gets up and down the stairs swiftly and sleeps with my son every night. We often call her "The suganitor" because she just pushes her way through to wherever she wants to be. We think she is very happy, and are sure she is well loved! Thanks so much ffor the grea addition to our family. We highly recommend adopting an older pug...she is so sweet!
With warmest regards,
The Rohovit Family |

| Dear Pug savers,
I just had to write and express my sheer gladness with my adopted Pug, Starsky. He is absolutely debonair! We spoil him to no end. He has blended with all of our family, and is just the king of the house. He is fabulous. Thank you, thank you!

You can take away my shoes, You can pull up all the rugs,
But please don't take away my beloved pugs.
I can do without the television, I can do without the
backyard shed, But I can't do without my pugs snoring in my bed.
I can live without candy, I can live without bugs, But I
can't live without my little funny pugs.
